Southwest Florida is the fourth most competitive rental market in the U.S. due to high occupancy rates, low apartment availability and record-high lease renewal rates, according to a RentCafe study.

To rank the most competitive rental markets, RentCafe looked at the 100 largest markets in the U.S. where data was available, analyzing how many days rentals were vacant, what percentage of apartments were occupied, how many prospective renters competed for apartments, what percentage of renters renewed their leases and the share of new apartments completed.

Checking in behind top-ranked Miami-Dade County, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and Orlando, Southwest Florida rentals averaged 30 vacant days, 96.8% occupancy, 20 prospective renters competing for apartments and a 72% lease renewal rate.
