Gov. Ron DeSantis and Florida Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Shawn Hamilton announced $100 million in funding for local governments that operate a stormwater or wastewater management system impacted by Hurricane Ian or Hurricane Nicole, including 23 Southwest Florida projects. Among the awards were city of Cape Coral receiving $10 million for wastewater lift generators and city of Sanibel and town of Fort Myers Beach receiving $10 million apiece for stormwater system repairs. Sanibel will also get $10 million in state funding for wastewater collection system repairs and $9,936,341 for lift station control panel replacement.
