SVN Commercial Partners has been selected to oversee property management and leasing at Port Charlotte Town Center, the firm announced Sept. 9.
“Port Charlotte Town Center represents an important commercial asset for this community,” said Corrie Gates of SVN Commercial Partners. “Charlotte County continues to evolve, and properties like Port Charlotte Town Center have an opportunity to evolve with it.”
The Town Center property encompasses 55 acres, including the mall and buildings on its outparcels.
With the assignment of Port Charlotte Town Center — one of Charlotte County’s most recognizable commercial properties — SVN Commercial Partners has further expanded its portfolio throughout Southwest Florida.
The team will focus on day-to-day property operations, tenant relationships and leasing, as well as identifying opportunities to strengthen the center’s position within the Port Charlotte and greater Charlotte County market, Gates said.
The Port Charlotte Town Center assignment follows nearly three years of SVN Commercial Partners’ involvement with Fishermen’s Village in Punta Gorda, where the team has worked on management, leasing and positioning of the waterfront destination.
During that time, SVN Commercial Partners worked alongside ownership and tenants through significant operational challenges, hurricane recovery and continued leasing activity.
“Our experience at Fishermen’s Village demonstrated what can be accomplished when management, leasing and ownership are working from the same strategy,” said Ashley Bloom, managing director at SVN. “For nearly three years, our team became deeply involved in the property. We intend to bring that same hands-on approach to Port Charlotte Town Center.”
SVN Commercial Partners has become increasingly active throughout Charlotte County and Southwest Florida, working with property owners, investors, developers and tenants across the retail, land, office and investment sectors. The firm manages more than 1 million square feet of commercial property.
The addition of Port Charlotte Town Center further expands the company’s presence in the region and reflects its strategy of providing owners with an integrated platform that combines property management, leasing, investment sales and advisory services, Bloom said.
“We are excited to work with ownership, existing tenants, prospective businesses and the community as we help position the property for its next phase,” Bloom said.
Gates said the mall, at 1441 Tamiami Trail, continues to have JCPenney, Dillard’s and Bealls as anchor stores. Victoria’s Secret, Dunkin’s Diamonds and other retailers also remain, alongside newer shops and businesses.
The former Sears sustained heavy hurricane damage and remains shuttered, while the former Macy’s property is separately owned by a private development firm whose plans for the site have not been announced.
