The redevelopment of Bonita Bay’s Beach Park is set to start with a groundbreaking ceremony at 10 a.m. April 2 at 27250 Hickory Blvd. in Bonita Springs.  After the loss of the beach park on Sept. 28, 2022, when Hurricane Ian hit Southwest Florida, the new structure is expected to feature elevated pavilions, Marvel Stone hardscapes and champagne furnishings. To meet Federal Emergency Management Agency code, the building is being constructed 14 feet above sea level and structurally sound to withstand hurricanes, with the first floor set up as a breakaway. An estimated completion date wasn’t announced.
