Fishermen’s Village sold to local investors for $43M

Fishermen’s Village, Punta Gorda’s iconic waterfront shopping and dining destination, was sold July 22 to real estate investment firms Harborview Capital Group of Punta Gorda and Miami-based Torose Equities for $43 million through a court-supervised receivership process.

Harborview Capital Group invests in hospitality, retail, industrial and mixed-use real estate with a philosophy rooted in responsible stewardship. Co-founder and CEO Anthony Dubbaneh has lived in Punta Gorda since 1990, while co-founder Ankur Patel is a Punta Gorda native, giving both a personal connection to Fishermen’s Village.

“We are honored to become the next stewards of a place that has meant so much to our family and our community,” Dubbaneh said. “Fishermen’s Village is the next step in our long-term commitment to investing in Punta Gorda.”

Dubbaneh said Harborview’s purchase of Fishermen’s Village builds on its other Punta Gorda investments, including the redevelopment of the former Muscle Car City property and its acquisition of the Military Heritage Museum complex. He said the firm plans to continue investing in both properties as part of its long-term commitment to the community.

Patel said the group recognizes the significance of the acquisition.

“This is a responsibility we take seriously, and we look forward to working alongside the city and the community for many years to come,” he said.

Patel’s sentiments were echoed by fellow investor Scott Sherman, principal with Torose Equities, who oversees acquisitions and investments throughout the Southeast.

Fishermen's Village in Punta Gorda was sold July 22 for $43 million to Punta Gorda-based Harborview Capital Group and Miami-based Torose Equities through a court-supervised receivership process.

“Fishermen’s Village is an exciting addition to Torose’s growing Gulf Coast portfolio. We’re proud to build on our investment in the Midtown at Bonita and our investments in St. Petersburg, and we look forward to continuing to invest in exceptional properties and communities across Florida’s Gulf Coast while partnering with Harborview to preserve this landmark for future generations,” Sherman said.

Torose Equities is a Miami-based commercial real estate investment firm focused on acquiring, investing in and enhancing retail, office, hospitality, industrial and mixed-use properties throughout the Southeast.

The investors said they plan to work closely with the city of Punta Gorda, merchants, marina tenants, tourism organizations and residents to restore and enhance the property while preserving the character that has made Fishermen’s Village one of Southwest Florida’s best-known waterfront destinations.

The seller was represented by SVN Commercial Partners, with Ashley Bloom and Corrie Gates serving as the listing agents.

SVN officials said the buyers’ immediate priorities for the 90,000-square-foot property — which includes waterfront retail and restaurant space, a 47-room hotel and a full-service marina — are restoring the marina to full operation, enhancing hotel operations and guest amenities, supporting existing merchants and marina tenants and preserving the property’s waterfront character.

Senior debt financing for the acquisition was provided by Lake Michigan Credit Union.

The marina sustained substantial damage from Hurricane Milton in 2024 and has not yet returned to full operation.

The acquisition closes a tumultuous chapter in Fishermen’s Village’s history after the previous owner filed for bankruptcy protection and the property entered receivership, with SVN Commercial Partners representing the asset during the process.

While the wharf’s shops and restaurants have been restored or are under reconstruction, the marina remains only partially operational.
