As Lee County’s property values grew by 1.5% over the last year, values on Fort Myers Beach jumped by 36%, according to the county’s preliminary tax roll for 2024 property values released by Property Appraiser Matt Caldwell. Amid an increase of new construction on the barrier island following Hurricane Ian, Fort Myers Beach’s value increased from $3.6 billion in 2023 to $4.9 billion in 2024. New construction just value is estimated at $631.7 million. Meanwhile, the city of Sanibel’s just-taxable value fell 10.44% to $5.85 billion. Just taxable values dropped 1.43% in the city of Fort Myers and 1.83% in the city of Cape Coral and were up 1.55% in the city of Bonita Springs and 1.39% in Village of Estero.
